Lose My Mind, By: Jess04090
Addy is dating 1D's Liam when she meets an infuriatingly handsome stranger outside of the recording studio one morning. She tries to resist him, but soon finds that Max can be very persuasive...
Chapter 1: Chapter Name
I leaned in to kiss Liam one last time as we parted ways outside of the studio. It was off to work for me, and he was going to meet with his bandmates to work on some “top secret” project. You would think that as his girlfriend I would get to hear some of their stuff before it was released publicly, but no. I had to wait just like the rest of the world…
Just as Liam dropped my hand from his and ducked in through the door that I had pulled open for him, he turned, blowing me one last kiss. “Have a good day, Sweetums. I love you.”
I couldn’t help returning his huge smile. “I love you too, Babe!”
He winked and jogged toward the elevator. I was just about to let the glass door to the studio swing shut when from just behind my ear came the the sound of a deep, masculine voice.
“You know, Sweetums, pet names are a sure fire way to kill any relationship…”
I turned suddenly, startled, and found myself face-to-face with a sexy smirk and sparkling grey eyes. He was standing much too close to me, and I felt myself blush immediately. Sucking in a breath involuntarily, I tried to school my features to seem disinterested.
“Excuse me, but do I know you?”
He made some attempt to respond, but annoyed at having a private moment with my boyfriend monitored and commented on by a total stranger, I cut him off, continuing, “No, I didn’t think so. It’s rude to eavesdrop, just so you know for the future.”
Instead of being put off by my attitude, he seemed to only grow more amused. I spun on my heels, intending to bypass him, but he caught my arm and pulled me back to face him.
“You really don’t know who I am?” His face scrunched into a mocking pout. “Ouch. Well, let’s just say that I know your boyfriend. Liam, is it? He and I are going to be working together for a while.”
“Oh,” was all I could think to say in response . Dumbly, I blinked up at the crooked smile that was just then taking form an his lips. The smile that was way too close to my own unsmiling face. After a too long moment, I somehow registered that he was still holding my arm, and I yanked it away from his grasp, stumbling backward in the process.
The guy had the nerve to chuckle, low and rumbly in his chest. “Well,” he called as I backed away, trying to catch my breath, “I guess I’ll be seeing you again real soon. Have a good day, Sweetums…”
He was through the door before I could come up with a witty response, so, instead, I adjusted my work bag and concentrated on breathing and trying to rid my face of the blush that still burned across my cheeks.
Who did this guy think he was? He had the nerve to not only mock my relationship, but to also grab me!
Walking to my office, I could still feel the heat of his palm around my arm, could still see the amused quirk of his lips. I knew that it was stupid, and I knew that it was wrong, but I couldn’t help but notice that it had felt good to be that close to him, to that arrogant, cocky--and ok, gorgeous--stranger.
Getting through the day was going to be hell.
